Yesterday a small group of Ute Native Americans came to Vail to perform a snow dance. We watched them do a friendship dance, a snow dance, and at the end we all did a unity dance together. Davis was one of the first people to get right in the middle of the dance. At one point the circle danced around him! Here is a quick picture of the kids getting ready for the dance. By the way...the dance worked! Vail called 8 inches of snow overnight! Yahoo...we will keep doing the snowdance to keep it coming.
Here is a link to the Vail Daily article about the snow dance, and you may recognize the Place family on the cover of the newspaper with the Ute Native Americans. Davis is in the orange coat to the left, Lilly is in the purple coat and pink hat near Davis, and Kelly is in the bright green jacket behind the Natives dancing with a couple of her students.
