The Beach

Lilly, Davis, and Buddy had their very first beach experience!  Davis' assessment was that it was too salty and the water goes everywhere!  Lilly really enjoyed body surfing on the waves.  Regardless of the salty water, the kids really enjoyed their beach experience and mommy and daddy enjoyed watching their kids play in the water.

Assateague Island

After we left NY, we drove to Maryland and camped on Assateague Island for a few days to play on the beach and watch the wild ponies.  Assateague is where the story of Misty and Stormy takes place and the wild horses are believed to have originated from a Spanish ship importing the horses to the US from Spain that crashed off the shore.  There are hundreds of wild horses that travel in smaller herds and while they are pretty to look at, they are rather pesky and can be aggresive.  We watched two horses harass a family with grocery bags of snacks.  The family was packing up for the day and put their bags in the back of their minivan.  The horses went into the back of the minivan, found the bags, dragged them back out, and had a junk food feast!

4th of July

The Fourth of July was a hot lake day.  Daddy rode around Caz Lake in the morning supporting mommy and Aunt Kimmy in a 10 mile run.  Then we went to the Cazenovia parade, followed by some lake time, and wrapped up the evening with some spectacular fireworks with the Brook's family!

Lake Time

Besides being with our family the best part of NY is simply playing in the lake.  The kids love to jump of the raft, play in the sand, and swim for hours!

Putt Putt

While in NY, all the cousins got together for a round of Putt Putt and ice cream.  Lilly and Mommy got a hole in one on the first hole!  Who knew?!?

Family

We spent a lot of quality time hanging with many cousins and the family.

Riding in NY

One of the first things we did when we got to NY was go to the barn and ride Belle.  Lilly and Belle trotted around the ring and Davis practiced staying on...a big goal for him.  Aunt Kimmy asked him if he wanted to trot and he said, "NO...it's too scary!"

The kids got another riding lesson towards the end of our trip in NY.  Belle was sick, so the kids rode some other ponies in the barn.  Davis rode Sparky and fell off in the first few minutes when Sparky shook like a dog, but he recovered and had fun.
Lilly rode Ladybug and graduated to riding without the lead line!  She had great control of the pony, probably because of all of her great training from Aunt Kimmy, not to mention Ladybug was a great pony!
She looks like a natural!
