Happy 3rd Birthday Davis

My baby boy is 3 years old!  I can hardly believe it!  He celebrated at school today with a good ole preschool bash...here are some pictures and videos of the big event.

Merry Christmas

Ho, Ho, Ho...Merry Christmas.  Santa Claus came to our house on Christmas Eve and dropped off a bunch of presents for us.  He even filled our stockings with little gifts that made us smile.  Lilly thoroughly enjoyed ripping open all of her gifts and then going back to play with them all.  Davis carefully opened a single gift at a time and then played with it for awhile.  He took quite a bit longer to open his gifts.  Lilly's favorite gift was a horse stable that used to be Aunt Kimmy's when she was a little girl.  Mommy's Grandpa Brooks made it when she was little, so it is very special.  If you were to ask Davis he would say his scooter is his favorite present, but he has not put down his space ship from Aunt Karen.  The kids (and mommy and daddy) were extremely grateful for all their gifts and being able to spend time with Grandma and Grandpa Buck!

Opening stockings on Christmas morning.
Davis opening his Christmas Eve gift from Grandma Kelly.  He fell asleep on x-mas eve and missed out on his tradition, so it was the first gift of Christmas morning.  A pair of Christmas jammies!
Wow...look at all those gifts that Santa left for the kids.
Opening presents sure was fun!
Davis was so excited about getting a scooter.  Once assembled he scootered around the house for the rest of the morning.
Lilly got a comfy, cozy pillow from Grandma Kelly.
After our morning of opening gifts, the kids went outside and rode their scooters for awhile.  Then they opened another gift from our friends Paulie and Kailey.  Paulie made the kids marshmallow shooters.  Upon opening Davis just started eating the stale marshmallows.
Lilly ambushed her dad and got him with a trail of marshmallows.
Lilly playing with her new stable that used to be Aunt Kimmy's when she was a little girl.  It is well stocked with Breyer horses passed down from Aunt Kimmy and Aunt Jennifer.

4 Days

Yes, 4 days in big boy panties!  It is unreal this potty training thing!  Davis has just decided to be a big boy and go potty in the bathroom.  So much so that he demanded to wear big boy underwear to school the other day, so he did.  He needs no reminding, no timers, no coercing...he just does it and we are loving it!!!  We are so proud of our big boy!

Weekend in Aspen

We just got back from a weekend retreat in Aspen.  Lucky us...we got to stay in the "River House," a house for which Andy Poole caretakes.  It was truly an amazing setting for a relaxing weekend with our friends.  We spent Saturday sledding and eating cupcakes for Ryder's 2nd b-day, enjoyed a mellow dinner at home, and then spent the next day enjoying the beautiful weather outside.  Thanks Pooles...we love you!!!

Lilly, Davis, and Ryder playing cars.  No need to be concerned about Ryder's head...the band-aids were just an accessory.

Sledding

Vail called 9 inches of new snow this morning.  It's finally starting to look like winter around here.  To celebrate the new snow fall we joined the Messmers for a morning of sledding.  While there is not much of a snow base on the sledding hill, we were still able to slide away.  Fun was had by all; so much so that Davis fell asleep this afternoon!
Davis and Aunt Kimmers sledding down the grass sledding hill.
Mackenzie, Davis, and Lilly giggling their way down the hill.
Look no hands, well except for Davis.
At the end of one of the runs, the sled tipped over.  No one was hurt, but snow got in the face.  The girls were giggling and Davis was wailing...
and wailing!  He recovered with another sled down the hill with mommy.
Jeff had his skate skis in the truck so for fun he put them on and skate skied around the base of the sledding hill.  I love the jeans look...I think that skiing in jeans must be coming back!  Jeff, the trend setter.

Happy Thanksgiving

We celebrated Thanksgiving with our Colorado friends.  We had lots of turkey and all the fixings over at the Jones' house.  The kids enjoyed playing football with Brady Jones, who is a little younger than Davis.  They also enjoyed playing with big kid, Uncle Paulie!  We are thankful for our family and our friends!

Happy Halloween

We just got back from a pretty successful Halloween.  We went trick or treating in Eagle Ranch with Quincy.  The houses were all decked out and we actually had to skip a few that were too spooky!  Davis freaked out a few times from creepy decorations and people that were scary.  Not to worry...all forgotten now that he is home and in a candy coma.  As you can tell from the pictures, he was pretty jazzed to go trick or treating, as was his more experienced and confident big sis.

School Halloween Party

Lilly had her school Halloween party today.  She paraded around the school showing off her Jessie costume.  Lucky her...she got to hold her teacher's hand and share the leader spot with her good pal, Piper.  She had a great day at school and is prepared to have a great night trick-or-treating.

Princess Pumpkin

Lilly carved her pumpkin this afternoon, and in typical Lilly fashion, she created a Princess Pumpkin.

Grasshopper Festival

Jeff is on the Eagle County Trout Unlimited board and each year they hold a fundraiser called the Grasshopper Festival.  There is good music, fly fishing type games, a bouncy castle, and good food and beer.  Davis really enjoyed all the fly fishing events that took place.
Davis casting a line with Ted Vickerman.
Davis making a paper trout craft.
Davis rowing his first drift boat.  Can't ever start training too early.

Kids Riding Their Bikes

Today was another beautiful fall day.  We spent our afternoon practicing riding our bikes with NO training wheels.  Here is a video of one of Lilly's attempts with the help of our neighbor Tony.  She is not quite all the way there, but she is making progress and feels very proud of herself.

While I was working with Lilly on riding her bike, Davis crawled atop of our neighbor's bike, got a little shove from Tony, and off he went.  Two years old and riding a bike!  Needless to say, Lilly was a little bit mad at her brother and told him it was not fair!  Her first lesson in fair is not always equal.

Wild West Days

Last weekend we went out to 4Eagle Ranch for Wild West Days, a fundraiser for the district schools.  We went on a wagon ride, played lots of games, got prizes, and explored the Flight for Life helicopter.  Davis and Lilly looked pretty natural in the helicopter.  Who knows, maybe they will become pilots when they grow up!
